The area 10165 N McKinley Dr, Tampa, FL 33612 Brian M Tampa, FL 1,195 contributions Great shows & rides! Need to improve food & festivals & increase ride variety & have more concerts Busch Gardens Theme Park of Tampa Bay features plenty to do for young kids, older kids, teenagers, adults, and even grandparents! Adults and older kids can ride Rollercoasters, adults and grandparents can watch shows, and young kids can enjoy all the rides at Sesame Street Safari of Fun! I've been going to Busch Gardens years, ever since I was a little kid! I liked Busch Gardens better when Anheuser-Busch was operating it and gave free beer, fireworks, and snacks. Busch Gardens was also better in 2018 but it's also maybe unfair to judge the park now with reduced capacity, covid restrictions, and the unemployment benefits crisis due to people being paid more not to work than to work. While Universal's Islands of Adventure is better for older kids and adults, Busch Gardens really offers a lot more rides for younger kids. Busch Garden's Sesame Street Safari of Fun is much bigger than Dr Seus Land at Universal. Most of Disney's Magic Kingdom is pretty young kid friendly with exception of their Rollercoasters just like Busch Gardens also has the added benefit of lots of animals on display kinda like Disney's Animal Kingdom! Universal and Disney has Busch Gardens beat for innovative food selections, movie tie-in, ride quality, theming and overrall feel. Busch Gardens food selections need a lot of work as most places just have subpar overpriced burgers, Pizza, and hot dogs aside from the seasonal festival foods. However, Disney & Universal theme parks are comparatively much more expensive for annual passes but only a little more for a one time pass. Busch Gardens let's you come back all year with a fun pass for the price of a 1 day admission! Unfortunately, Busch Gardens is way too spread out and it requires way too much walking in comparison to other theme parks in Orlando. I really hope Busch Gardens management can bring back more live shows at the Pantopia Theater and Pantopia Dragon Fire Theater, bring more popular concerts, offer a greater variety of foods at restaurants, offer a greater variety of foods at festivals, and offer more types of rides than just Rollercoasters like 4D Rides! If managment could duplicate all the international food offerings at the superior International Food & Wine fest of Busch Gardens Williamsburg VA that would be awesome! It may not be a theme park on the level of some of the Orlando area parks, but has a very good collection of thrill rides. It does seem to lack that one elite roller coaster, but hopefully when Iron Gwazi opens that will change. Joan J Superior, Wisconsin, United States 9 contributions Huge mistake going to Busch Garden!! Nov 2021 Such a massive disappointment! Hardly anything was operating, refreshment stands were all closed, no shows & very little to see or do. A HUGE expense for a flight, accommodations, & $330 for our three tickets and parking. When checking in at guest services, they said we could come back another day if we preferred. REALLY? A total waste of time & money!! Oct 2021 • Solo I had an amazing time at BGT!! It's one of the most tidy, well themed and beautifully landscaped parks I've attended. While I was sad to have missed out on Cheetah Hunt, Cobra's Curse and Iron Gwazi, I really look forward to returning to ride them! The staff are very friendly, professional and courteous, so much so that I felt the need to visit Guest Services to rave about them. I felt welcome and valued for the duration of my visit. It's easily my fave non-Disney park in Florida! I still recall the great food recommendations from Dino (security) and great chats about rides and parks with Dre at Falcon's Fury and Jeff J at Kumba. Meeting staff who are fellow coaster/ride enthusiasts made a lasting positive impression and really enriched my experience as a guest. The all day dining plan is a tremendous value and the food was delicious... I ate like a king! I truly had the best time and I hope I'll find myself back in Tampa soon! Oct 2021 • Family Close the place down. This was such a joke of a theme park. If you want to spend a $100 walk around all day and do absolutely nothing this is the place for you. We went in late October they were only open 8 hours and absolutely hardly anything was open I think 5 coasters and and maybe 10 Kitty things were open then hardly anywhere to get food or drink eighthey're drink 80% of the place was closed what a asked what a joke for a park the owner of this place should be ashamed of himself. I would highly recommend not wasting your money you can have a lot more fun at universal studios islands of adventure Is the animal kingdom high stayed in Orlando an Orlando and drove an hour and 15 minutes to walk around for 8 hours what a joke. With everything that was closed admission should have been like half price. You will never see me there again. Beware Sep 2021 • Family Absolutely terrible. Customer service is horrendous. My mistake for signing up for the annual pass. We went one time and quickly found out we will never return. I'm not expecting a refund, however at least let me cancel my pass. They lock you in and have to pay for the entire year regardless if you cancel or not. Shame on me for that mistake. Did I mention that customer service is horrendous? Terrible? Disney and Universal are a little more in $ but the service and parks are so much nicer and better value for the money. My kids and I went to Orlando for Spring Break every year from 2001-2012 (from Texas). For a few years we talked about going to Busch... but just kept skipping it. My son and I went alone one year (2008?) and absolutely fell in love with the park. It went into the annual rotation as a must see park. We love zoos, and we love roller coasters. Somehow Busch has combined the two wonderfully. Very cool animal exhibits, and some of the best roller coasters we have ever been on! We no longer do the annual trip (kids are out of school) but when we go to Florida, Busch is a must see. It is a full day park, but we never had a problem doing everything in one day. It is smaller than the Orlando parks, but also less crowded. We always have a great day at Busch Gardens, Tampa. Short Lines Midweek But Less Rides Oct 2021 Decent choice of thrill rides but there were a lot of coasters closed midweek. Fun playground for kids but Sesame Street book reading was underwhelming. There were absolutely no other shows going on when we were there which was frustrating. They should give mid week people at least 1 Ice Skating or Circus show option. Also the park is huge and half of the stores were closed so the park felt a little depressing. Thought Falcon's Fury was the scariest ride in the park. Midweek did provide short lines which was nice. We spent over $300 on tickets and quick queue passes. Only got to ride 3 rides and went through one haunted house.
The cheetah run wasn't working and when Howl-O-Scream started they closed all but 3 rides so the quick queue became obsolete due to so many people having the front-of-line passes!
Guest services are worthless and so is customer service. I only bought the quick queue passes because I didn't know what to buy in conjunction with Howl-O-scream to get front of the line (It's very hard to find what you need on their websight) I was actually guided to buy the quick queue from a Customer service rep while I was purchasing tickets because I wasn't sure so I called for help. Guest services said this is actually a common problem and that I needed to call customer service again and see what they could do to compensate us.
They said because we used the tickets in the park there is nothing they would do.
So essentially I spent over $400 to ride 3 rides and one haunted hour in 4.5 hours.
