Ski and Snowboard season is less than 90 days away and at Mt. Spokane and we are celebrating with our first ever Family Mountain Day, Sunday, September 12 at Lodge 2. Trail Run by Negative Split begins 8am -- 10am–3pm: Mountain Tradeshow: Meet our team! Ski School and Guest Services will be on site answering questions about everything related to the 21-22 Winter Season. Sit in a snow cat and chat with our grooming crew. Visit with our partner groups including Mt. Spokane Ski Race Team, Mt. Spokane Ski Patrol, Prime Timers, and Powderhounds! Camp Update! We were totally bummed when we had to cancel our first Adventure Camp last week due to smoke in the air but we are back in business for tomorrow's camp! Call for Brush Cutting Volunteers! Maintaining the mountain is a community effort, and each year, Mt. Spokane skiers and snowboarders benefit from the hard work of volunteer brush-cutters. We are assembling our team for two weekends of mountain work, September 11–12 & September 18–19. We are looking for 15 crew members who are available BOTH weekends. Those who volunteer and complete 40 hours of brush-cutting will be rewarded with (1) Adult 21-22 Winter Season Pass! We provide the tools. You bring the muscle. -- Requirements: • 18 Years & Older • Hiking/Working Boots/Proper work clothing • Capable of physical labor for (4) 10-hr shifts • Must be available BOTH scheduled weekends. • Dependable, great attitude, and willing to work hard. -- Crew Selection Process: • We will only take (15) volunteers and (5) alternate names. Volunteers must follow the sign-up process to be selected: • Volunteer registration opens at midnight (12am), August 1. • Set your alarm for midnight and be the first to sign-up (link in bio). -- We will only accept 20 registrations. The first 15 registered will be granted space on the brush cutting crew. The remaining names will be notified as alternates in case someone is unable to attend. During the week of August 2, after registering, you will be notified with details if you made the crew or if you are an alternate. To say we are excited to kick off youth camps this week is an understatement. We've put the finishing touches on our new bike trails and skills park, we tested the water slide, trained the staff, and gassed up the shuttles! Starting at Selkirk Lodge, horses and riders will be taking to approved trails through Mt. Spokane State Park as well as the Ski & Snowboard Park, from 6am–6pm, on Saturday, July 17. Spokane! 🌞🚴‍♂️😎 Our amazing Ski School team are spreading their wings and taking their talents to summer programming including Adventure Day Camps for ages 6–11 and a Mountain Bike Skills Camp for ages 9–16. Located on the top of our region's iconic mountain, campers will spend their days playing hard, exploring the mountain, making friends, and getting dirty—always with an emphasis on protecting our natural resources and environment. Tomorrow is our final day of the 2020-21 season, and to say the least, we are feeling a bit emotional. Not only do we hang up the skis and snowboards for the year but we also say goodbye to our 20-21 seasonal staff. Our deepest gratitude to the community for supporting Mt. Spokane this year. With your support, we were able to employ nearly 300 individuals from our region. Mountain jobs make a difference—these jobs help pay for college, gives experience to first-time workers, and for some, leads to a lifetime career in outdoor recreation. This season, we had our share of challenges—COVID, wind storms, cold snaps, but each time, this team rose to the occasion, bringing joy, passion, and grit each and every day. It's been hard to tell since we've been wearing mask all season, but serving our community has brought smiles to our faces all winter long. WIth COVID numbers trending in the right direction, this means we can reopen indoor spaces to 25% capacity for dining. — A few things to remember during this important transition: -Please mask up before entering ALL indoor spaces unless you are seated at a table. -Six maximum to a table. Do not congregate in larger groups. -Please kindly make space for everyone to get out of the elements by not reserving or hanging out at tables for an extended period of time. Tables are meant for actively eating and drinking. -Please do not bring your own food into the lodges. With only 25% capacity, we have to save space to accommodate diners. -No personal items left indoors. -We still strongly encourage you to take advantage of outdoor spaces on mild days. A winch groomer is required for our steeper runs and our older model decided to unexpectedly retire a couple weeks ago. Although an enormous investment for the mountain, we decided to rush the purchase of new equipment so we can maintain our commitment to exceptional grooming. We love Mother Nature but she is not working in our favor today. Due to high winds overnight, we are experiencing a power outage at the mountain. That combined with continued wind gusts that affect lift operations, we will be closed today for both day and night skiing. We will back and ready to go first thing Thursday. Yeah, Baby! Our crews have been pushing the POW all night to make a great day of skiing and boarding for everyone, from 9am–9pm! We are SOLD OUT for day and night skiing today, Thursday, December 31. It's the busiest day of the year (and with COVID regulations), we are asking for some help from our amazing community. Here's ways you can help: __ Help us reduce road congestion. Please do not come to the mountain without a pre-purchased ticket, season pass, or prepaid gift card or voucher. All ticket redemption is done at the main lodge. Just have a print-out or ticket on your phone. -- Rentals and Guest Services is at 25% capacity. We are working every day to be as efficient as possible but there are still wait time. We appreciate everyone's patience and grace. -- Phone traffic is off the hook. We are doing our best to answer calls, but you can also email ticketsales@mtspokane.com or Facebook or insta message us for quick questions. Let's all do our part so we can have an amazing ski & snowboard season. All daily lift tickets must be purchased online prior to ski day. Season passholders do not need reservations. This first weekend is a soft opening and we are not selling lift tickets. -- Face masks are always required while in base area, indoors, on shuttles, in liftlines, and on lifts. Please wear a mask anytime you are in proximity to others. -- No waiting, sitting, dressing, or eating indoors. Restaurants and bars are open for grab-n-go food and beverages. Please enjoy food outdoors or in your car. Alcohol is permitted in designated outdoor areas only. -- Please queue outdoors for restrooms, rentals, and snow sports services. Use outdoor ticket window whenever possible. -- Keep personal items in your car or utilize outdoor rental lockers. -- Always keep your distance while in lines. The team is ready, and we can't be more excited to welcome you back to the slopes this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, December 5 & 6. —— Opening weekend comes with a few limitations. We are welcoming season passholders as well as those who pre-purchased lift tickets. We will also honor Stocking Stuffer lift ticket vouchers from last season. We will not be selling any further lift tickets for this weekend. —— A limited opening gives our staff an opportunity to fine-tune operations before heading into the heart of the season. We appreciate all our season passholders and look forward to a great weekend. 🏂⛷ —— Opening Plan: LIFTS: Beginner's Luck (Chair 5), Parkway Express (Chair 3), Illuminator (Chair 2), and Hidden Treasure (Chair 4) will be running. Terrain park will be open with limited features. Lifts will start turning at 9am. —— LODGES: Lodge 2 will be open, but please keep in mind that indoor spaces are not available for sitting, dining, dressing, or storing items.
